Flint highlights & aftermath

Still on road trip. Have there been images posted yet..? Add at will as this photo whore's meet contributions are ironically rather sparse.

Dan Skivolocke's 1/18 scale Ecto had undergone some serious modification.

Had wanted to stop at Rescue Market for some time. Gary has a 10,000 building packed with emergency/fire stuff. Managed to acquire a handful of items. Had I not pre-planned on retrieving other additional bulky pieces later on return trip, would have snagged at least one-man ambulatory cot if not both Ferno-Washingtons. Both pads were present in nice shape and they were reasonably priced.

Told Gary to join PCS site. Don't know how many of you are familiar with his stash so here's a solid look. Virtually everything he has is for sale.

I may know virtually nothing about fire trucks but I do understand the rarity of seeing an early aftermarket Marmon Herrington 4WD. (Yes, Gary has firetrucks in the building too.)

Directional roof mount CP25 came off a '60s ambulance. I hadn't seen one before. Too tempting to angle towards curb and use PA system.

Really intrigued to see this Mars oscillate up close in person after checking it out and hearing explanation.

I had just found a few of my pictures I took there about 10/15 years ago of these the other day, your pictures turned out WAY better!! some of those cars were chickenmans!! i wonder if the one creation he made was still there, I think it was either a ('60's) coupe or sedan deville, with vista cruiser roof and hearse/ambulance rear door, strange to say the least!! are you continuing onto Lauracella's???!!!

Dana.

Some great pics Attila!
Thanks for sharing!

I am kicking myself right now though! Rescue Market was right along our trip up to Flint and back again. Elyria Ohio would have just been a minute or two off of our trip. I never realized that it was that close. We were already looking for somewhere to stop next year on our way to Flint. I think we found at least one of our stops while traveling across Ohio next year.

Dana, you just answered that true oddity/mystery, which left me perplexed. Never seen anything even remotely similar. Hoped that Walt, Keith, or Jim could fill in some blanks. Difficult looking past the crusty condition to imagine what this was once was.

No wonder there wasn't a build plate, makers mark, nor any other clue as to whom constructed it. Notes taken:

-'67-'68 Cadillac sheetmetal.
-Olds Vista Cruiser roof.
-4D converted to 2D leaving rear side door glass and moldings.
-Blanked off side panels never had landau irons mounted.
-Passenger side hinged full size rear loading door.
-Remnants of wood floor and roller casings.

Positively bizarre.

Here's a link to pics of the items that I brought to Flint. You can check them out here:

I like making dioramas that have to do with real PCS events, so in honor of the Volunteer Chapter's annual Wigwam Village meet, I made a model of the event. I also brought my diorama of the Ohio Chapter's annual Procar Night at the Drive-in meet.

Also making its debut this year was my '66 M-M limo style 3-way and my 1910 Cadillac limousine.

Thanks, Wayne! I've never been to the Wigwam Village, but I've always liked unique roadside attractions, so it was a good model to do. I based it on two pictures that I found on their website. Maybe next year, I'll have time to create all 15 of the wigwams.

Sarah, you are very talented, beautiful work!

I really like Sarah's drive-in diorama, the wigwams being that I am 1/8 Ojibwa indian and the new 3way with the fantastic table is sweet !

The micro-meet is expanding and getting better every year with all thing cool things like these people create.

Thanks for bringing them all for everyone to see Sarah,
Darren

:applause:

Here are photos of my diorama. I bought one of the Riddle boxcars that Patrick had made for the meet - I do model trains in HO scale but not the era of the boxcar. So I wanted to do something with the boxcar. Hence the diorama.

The date is February 24, 1913 (100 years ago [though the Micro-Meet was held on Feb. 23rd, 2013, I discovered that Feb. 23rd, 1913 was a Sunday and it was unlikely they would be working]). A new 1913 Riddle ambulance is being loaded into one of Riddle's boxcars for delivery to a railroad siding in the customer's home town. The end doors of the boxcar are open, and a crew is helping the driver back the ambulance up the ramp and into the boxcar, while a supervisor in a suit oversees the work. It's a cold day, and there are patches of snow on the ground from a recent snowfall. A Ford Model-T truck is parked in the street.

The building and the ambulance were modeled from photos.

I've also included one of Brady's photos showing how it arrived at his place, thanks to UPS. Fortunately, thanks to George Hamlin, the damage was fixed and it was displayed nicely at the Micro-Meet.

I did win "Oldest Vehicle Modeled" for the ambulance!

That is a OUTSTANDING diorama !

I loved it ! It looked like a step back in time and was very well hand crafted.

:applause:

I too was going to use the box car in my second addition but only on some train track. No intention of hand making a replica factory as you did.

Mine would have been at the other end where the car got dropped off at the livery.

I will have mine at the next micro-meet and hope it is somewhere close to how well yours turned out.

I will bring mine myself after hearing about your UPS disaster !

Thanks for sharing it will us all,
Darren

Love the pictures Sarah but I can't right click them. My AGM stayed at the Wigwam once and got a kick out of it when I showed them to her. My staff loved all the Lego displays.
