Dumb and Dumber "To" (two) movie hearse...

Anybody else see this movie this weekend? The main characters spend a considerable amount of screen time driving a hearse. It looked odd to me, if I had to guess, I would say it is a 73 Superior landau that they added windows to in the back to make it into a limo style, presumably for a few sight gags they did. The rear windows looked out of place to me, especially the way the trim behind the rear side doors didn't line up with the trim on the rear windows. That doesn't seem like a design element Superior would screw up. It is a Universal Studios production, I wonder if they already had a hearse and made it fit their needs?

So far this is the only side shot I can find online, but it doesn't really show what I am talking about:

Here is an interior shot:

Wonder what the story is on this one?

It is a 1971 Miller-Meteor Landau Traditional that has had the landau area cut out and a window installed, that is most likely the reason you think it looks odd.

It could one of the original hearses from Rose Hills..... Kevin O'Connell will probably know. Even their newer hearses had a similar type of window. Doug Scott would sometime fill them back and pad over the area in to sell them.

I've never been able to keep these straight....I saw the canted front door glass and assumed Superior, didn't realize Superior and Miller Meteors roof profiles looked much more similar to each other in the 70's. I guess the giveaway is the top of the "fin" area. I also thought the wide split headlamps were a 72-73 thing, so I thought I had a 50/50 shot there.

At any rate, it seems obvious the windows were added, since they go against every other body and trim line on the car. Its much more obvious in the movie. It looks surprisingly finished on the inside though.

Without giving away too much of the plot of the movie, let's just say its probably no longer available for further inspection...

Todd, I can no longer post pix to show you the frontal difference, but I hope I can describe it good enough. A 71 and 72 are similar, but a 71 has the Cadillac crest between the headlights and the turn signals in the bumper. The 72 has the turn signals between the headlights. A 73 has the turn signal lights similar to the 72, but has chrome/stainless surrounding them. Also the bumper is straight across (does not dip down with the grille extending into the dips).
I know it would be easier with pix, but I hope that helps.

73 has the crash bumper. the 2 as john said park lights between the headlights and the 1 the crest between them my favorite year of caddy is the 71-72

71-72

Gold =71 Black= 72 Blue= 73
