Does it get any better than this?

This weekend the '60 Eureka exhibited at Motor Muster, at Greenfield Village, Dearborn MI. As we had never been to Hitsville, the original Motown offices/studio in Detroit, we decided Friday we'd see it. It happens that Hitsville is right next to the James H. Cole Funeral Home, and as we drove by, it was obvious they were quite busy with visitation(s). I drove through the alley separating Hitsville from the funeral home, as I found a spot to park on a nearby street.

No sooner did I get the car to the curb, a man was in street frantically waving his arm at me and yelling "park it over here!" I went to speak with him before actually moving the car, and he insisted I park the hearse in a nice safe spot where they normally receive their removals. I told him that we would be gone at least an hour, and he said "no problem!"

When we returned after touring Motown (a must-see tour, by the way), there were at least a dozen people, directors and customers alike, hovering around the Eureka. You get the picture. It just goes to show that there are still plenty of really nice people around who are willing to go the extra mile to make sure the hearse won't be harmed. I think they were just as appreciative of seeing the car as I was to have it parked in a safe spot. Tom

It just goes to show that you never know how many nice people you might run into on an excursion to a car event, and the side-trips that often accompany them. What a great experience, and that many more people got to see and learn about the hearse. Thanks for sharing your great experience with us.

Tom, the Greenfield Village Motor Muster sounds like an outstanding event. Actually, it must be because you seem to attend just about every year. Living so close, it is funny how many of us Michigan folks have never been to places like Greenfield Village or Hitsville USA/Mowtown.

Since you have just toured the Mowtown museum, it may be interesting to note that even more Mowtown artifacts were still contained in the final downtown Detroit office (Donovan Building, vacated in 1970 for a move to California) when it was demolished in 2005. Most of these items went to the landfill with the rest of the building.

Tom, Cole funeral home has or had a 71 or 72 Hess & Eisenhardt Cadillac flower car, your 60 Eureka looks stunning in the pic. and yes there are still some nice people out there. and the motor muster is a must see i live within 20 minutes of the Henry Ford. and its a mustsee along with the motor muster

That's good to hear. I'm glad there are people like that still out there. I took the Suburban and the S&S to a local car show Sunday. Although the weather was beautiful, the reception there was decidely "chilly".
