That there were DONATE LIFE brochures and book marks in our registration packs ?!

I'm not sure who put them in there but I would like to personally THANK them very much !!!

A few years ago my brother required a liver transplant as he was a few days away from dieing. He received tainted blood when he was in his 20's and he didn't realize it until he was in his 40's. It contained Hep C. There was little in the way of them checking donated blood back then as there is today.

Someone had signed a ORGAN DONOR CARD and my brother got a second chance at life ! IT WAS A LIKE WINNING 100 MILLION DOLLARS !
You can't even put a price on such a thing.

It is truly a day I will never forget !!! I was choked up with joy for days after it !!! I couldn't even talk on the phone when it rang. I had to hand it over to Jen.

PLEASE SIGN A ORGAN DONOR CARD AND TELL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO YOU, YOU WANT TO SAVE OTHER PEOPLES LIVES !!!

IT REALLY IS THE GIFT OF LIFE !

Unfortunately the Doctors damaged the liver between harvest and transplant so my brother didn't live long after the transplant.

If you have ever noticed, I have been wearing a green rubber bracelet for the last 6 years in support of organ donation.

Once again, please sign a card and THANK YOU to who ever put those brochures and book marks in our 2011 PCS registration packs !!!

Jim & Amy Schultz are responsible for the inclusion of those items as well as the majority of the items that made up the goodie bags. They deserve a lot of credit for their contributions. The meet would not have been as good without them.:thumb::thumb:

This hit home with us as well. Seven years ago, my wife Kim received a kidney transplant. Her new kidney came from a person who chose to be an organ donor. Kim is leading a perfectly normal life today because of someone's generosity and thoughtfulness.

the let your family know part is the important part. these decision have to be made fast and the family is the ones that have to make them. being on the collecting side threw the state lions club I know all harvested organs and eyes tissue are handled in a respectful manner. so if you can check that box and let your people know. ben using recycled parts most of my life so I know they work

Being a tissue harvester myself, I see the "other side" of the coin. I think it's great that people and their families donate organs and tissues for others to live. My card is definitely signed!
