I missed it all but the last 10 minutes of it! Had the news channel confused. Gonna look on CNBC online for a video link if there is one. If anybody else finds anything please post it.
I watched it. It didn't make us look as badly as most programs on funeral service do. One thing I was impressed with was the fact that the funeral director who was featured in his funeral home explained that the average funeral service with casket cost around 10K and that we as funeral directors don't try and over sell a family because if they can't pay, we are the losers. The gentleman who felt that embalming was not necessary and that closure to a life was not needed should have stayed home. The convention segment kind of made us look like a bunch of partying drunks and I have certainly done my share of that. The cemetery part was interesting where the caretaker showed a spot of 6 grave spaces and a marker all for the bargain price of $150K. I almost spit my "sprite" out on that one. I thought it was well put together. It did show a couple hearses, a Lincoln and a Cadillac along with matching limos.
For the most part it was a fair and balanced report on our profession and it brought to light the many options famalies have for final disposition. I feel that we were not portrayed as the bad guys of the death care industry.
Good reporting with esception of the convention intro.

I watched most of it 'till I fell asleep, DVR'd it anyway. I thought it was pretty good.
The thing that jumped out at me was the 6% profit statement: maybe I didn't hear it right but I can't believe an operation can survive on a 6% net profit in any kind of business.
I was pleased with the way it was reported. I think it was objective and there were no slants or prejudices introduced. I only have a couple of years experience part time in the business, but to me as a consumer and professional, I think he did a very fair job.
