Database for Vin/Motor and Job Numbers?

Is there someone who collects the vin numbers/motor numbers and job numbers from the various coach makers? I could use their assistance.

I am looking for the location of the other 1974 S&S 3-Way Victoria Hearse purchased new by my grandfather in 1974. I have the Landau endloader in my collection but have often wondered what become of the other 1974.

They were purchased in May 1974 and from the paperwork I have found were job numbers 74253 and 74254. Both coaches were purchased for 34,025.81. Both were painted Antique Blue.

I spent the day looking through old files and paid receipts at the funeral home from the late 1960's and early 1970's and did not find anything on the 1974. I did find vin numbers, motor numbers on two of our 1955 Superiors, 1961 Superiors, and a few of the Pontiac and Cadillac combinations from the early 1960's. So all was not lost.

The last known location was in 1978 when the 3-Way was traded in to the dealer in Nashville for our 1978 S & S Victorias.

If I could locate the vin number I might be able to track its location.

I thought this might be the crowd to ask. Also if anyone does collect this type of information I can provide you the goldmine I found today.

Oh, these vehicles were featured in The Professional Car Number 75. After this find today I would need to update that list.

Thanks, and enjoying the forum

Jeff, have you checked with Ellis? He may know where it might have gone! His memory is pretty good on these cars. Would it have went to Anderson M-M, Tommy Wakefield or to the S&S dealer Bob Rucker in Nashville on trade? Were any of those Pontiac's Dixie Coaches that were built in Lebanon perhaps?

Jeremy

It went to Robert Rucker on trade for the 1978's.

Thank you for your reply.

I remember at the '94 meet in Pittsburg that someone came by and ask if he could record my vin and job number so I thought this list might still be around and maybe just maybe someone would have run across the other 74. If you think Ellis might know I will call him again. He gave me a quote on putting a new top on my 74 about a month ago. It was out in the bad hail storm a year ago and the top was damaged beyond repair. Its time to restore it.

I am not sure on the Pontiacs. There was a 1959 and a 1960
Good to hear from you again.

good Lord look what the cat drug in... Mr. Jeff Berry... the first President of the Southeastern Chapter of PCS and all around good guy...
One of my favorite issues ever of The Professional Car was the issue that highlighted Berry Morticians, their fleets and changes over the years...
Good to see you Jeff, we wouldn't trade you for an '89 Ford Taurus with an 8 track player and slight transmission leak...

Well hello Kent! It is great to hear from you again. I thought I would start the new year with an account on the PCS message board. Glad to reconnect with the group.

I am going to have to get the 1974 a new top and a new blue paint job soon.

I found the Chapter Charter Certificate the other day. I need to pass that back to you or John and get active again.

Thank you for your comments on the past issue of the Professional Car. I found an old automobile liability schedule from the early 1960's that helped me fill in a few gaps.

How is the great state of North Carolina?
