Carlisle Haul....

This past spring Carlisle swap meet was one of the best ever. The car was heavier coming home, and I was a lot lighter in the pocket. You never know what you are going to find, but through the years, it seems that certain patterns seem to evolve with each meet. That pattern is that you will find a lot of the same type of items in abundance. One year it was brake shoes, another year it was carburetors and fuel pumps, and once I found over 20 Corvair wire wheels. The strange thing is that these patterns never repeat themselves with the identical items. Who knows what next year's common item will be........

horn of plenty

Paul,
:agree: Those patterns show up down here too. On my monthly trek to the flea market I will see several boxes of license plates and maybe some oil cans with spouts. The next month we may find half a dozen fiddles and or banjos. Then comes the model cars and maybe some car parts. It seems all the vendors are going to the same estate auctions and then showing up at the same flea market trying to peddle this stuff. Last month I bet I saw 300 road maps from all over the US. Probably 12 vendors had evidently been to this auction. Of course they all had a different idea of what items are worth. So you shop around unless it is a really obscure item. Then you don't put it down. Sorta like the CF Martin ukelele I found for $2.
Looks like you made quite a haul at Carlisle. :applause:
Now you will have to wait for the next SS check before trying to spend any more dough.

Bringing up the minority...that bumper end has my attention. :thumb:

The bumper end caught my eye only because of the auction that you made mention of last month. Unfortunately, the owner also knew what it was, so he wasn't giving it away. I had to reach much higher than I felt I should, but as you pointed out in that thread... They are rare to find in good condition.
If anyone knows why the commercial chassis cars got the aluminum ends, whereas the regular cars got the steel bumper end, please educate us..
thanks.. Paul

Know/recall if the bumper end seller was from CT? Have been waiting on pics of a '57/'58 CC piece going back to last year. If so, I won't keep checking in with the guy.
