the body builder of this 1958 Cadillac Landau Hearse? Sorry, no better pics of this barn find.

1958 Superior Landaulet.. Page 231 of the Superior Book...

Looks like the same curtains I have in my 2 '62 MM's.

Wonder if Superior and MM used the same material or designs at some point in time.

Sorry, it's not a Superior

I don't want to disagree with anyone, but the row of chrome spears on the rear doors make this car a Miller-Meteor Landau Traditional. Superiors had the trim in the rear Qtr Panel, not the rear door. Also, I believe that all Superior hearses (even end load) had reverse (sucicide) doors. Hope this helps

another pic

Does the "emblem" on the sail panel tell us anything? I guessed it to be MM but I surely don't have enough knowledge of pro cars to be certain. Based my guess on the angle of the sail panel.

The little medallion on the landau shield was provided by only one manufacturer and it contained the owners initials. This was originally something done by Meteor starting with the 1956 models and was carried over to the Miller-Meteor products. I have seen these medallions on Miller-Meteors as late as 1962. As such, this vehicle is a 1958 Miller-Meteor Landau Traditional.

Bill and Keith are correct, it's a Miller-Meteor Landau Traditional. Besides the landau shields and the drapes, there are a few tell-tales... The '58 Cadillac "spears" on the lower portion of the rear side door and the straight "blister" in the body and door. Superiors have their own faux vent molding at the leading edge of the quarter panel instead of the spears on the doors, making the quarters look short. They also have a step in the body where the quarter meets the door creating a tapered blister and a dimple in the door. The M-M design is cleaner and more balanced. My 2 cents!

Meteor crest

Keith: Our former (X-Moffat County Memorial Hospital / Craig, CO) 1956 Meteor-Cadillac Ambulance had the crest your referred to on the rear side doors with the owners inititials ("MCM")..... with samsonite luggage type gold letters. I didn't realize until now that M-M continued that in later model years. THX-MM

Both my '62 MMs have that same medallion.
The little glued on thin brass plate have come off both cars.
I have one of them in the glove box with a design on it, not initials.

The curtains are the same material and shape too. That was the give away on the coach builder for me.

I will have one of the cars in Ohio this week-end if anyones wants to look at it closely.

Mike: If you have the new Miller-Meteor book, the crests can be seen on the '56 Meteor cars on pages 94-96 as well as one Miller-Meteors on pages 219 through 225. They appear on some other M-Ms in the book through 1962. I've seen these as well and the do have either the ownre's initials or a design in the center. It was a rather cool idea.

Any opinions as to value, assuming it is in good condition with little rust? I guess there is no such thing as an "Old Cars" price guide to pro cars.

58 mm

:893USA-Smilie-thumb It looks similar to the MM we had in the office for a year. Its a gorgeous car. Any chance of more photo's and is it for sale?
