The old crest had the traditional class the new one appeals to todays buyer who in many cases has no class. Whats next a change in the three pointed star a Rolls Royce emblem with BMW worked into it??? Pontiac even lost the Indian. But we continue to move forward.

It is nice that there is a page with the Cadillac logos used over the years. I am wondering about the logo marked as 1964. That is the logo on every 1961 Cadillac wheel cover I have ever seen.

They should have brought back the merlettes. You know with everything these days referencing "old school." Anyone know the story behind the Merlettes & the Cadillac logo? I have heard various things. Merlettes being part of Cadillac's family crest, and then 3 on one side from the nobility of the fathers family line and 3 on the other side for the mothers line. I have also heard that the 3 represent the X-tian trinity and that the 6 of them represent the days god took to build the world. Cant remember where I heard any of this but there are a variety of other meanings behind the Cadillac logo, including colors used and what they represent. I wonder if the new logo has any of these original meanings incorporated into the design.

Every entry from GM to day looks like a match box car run over in the drive way. The needed a Step on flattened logo to put on it.

Notice that from 1902 until 1995 or later, those merlettes were present in every logo.
Wonder what made them fly the coop, I mean, emblem ?
