Cadillac is working on a more full size replacement

I have a friend that is an Executive for GM, he told me that Cadillac is working on a more full size high end sedan than the present XTS. He said it may be out for 2014 but more likely 2015. Has any one heard more about this?

I've heard the same report. It's not a surprise. Cadillac desperately needs an S-Class or 7-Series competitor. Right now Mercedes, BMW and Lexus are eating their lunch. It will, however, take a pretty dynamic offering from Cadillac to reclaim their former status as "standard of the world". Unfortunately, that may be gone forever. The younger generation simply doesn't aspire to Cadillac ownership as past generations have and Cadillac ownership no longer reflects what it once did - as recently as 20 years ago. It's unfortunate but, the brand's got a long way to go to be able to adequately compete with the German and Japanese marques. Even Hyundai is now competing in this market segment!

I sure hope this word is true and I really hope their coming around and see that they need to build a big luxury car again and hopefully it will have a style that will be reverent and dignified for funeral and livery use as well. To me a Cadillac is not a Cadillac anymore the way they are right now. Now there nothing more than luxury sports cars.

I agree with you Jeremy....I also think that while Cadillac attracted NEW customers with their sporty renditions..they also lost a lot of customers that were regular customers ...case in point my father in law who purchased a new Caddy every 2 years religiously since 1956......but his last one was a 2001 model......and since has gone to a Mercedes........

Do you think they sat around the boardroom table and someone finally said "when did all our old customers leave and why," then folks think back and then think ahead and you may get those customers back,:myopinion:

When I spoke to Mike, (GM executive) he did not say too much. but reading between the lines I think it may be coming off the Holdan/Caprice chassis but thats my guesse

It couldn't have been said any better!

It would be fantastic if they did bring out a new full size car but I think it is years to late. Maybe two decades !

You can see it in the recent funeral cars.
Lincoln and Chrysler are likely stealing the thunder when it comes to hearses.

I know there are a couple people, well one for sure, who still like current Cadillacs but a couple people won't keep the line going.

They are Kevin and maybe Dan.

Cadillac has lost its dignity and procar platforms. In 1996 when they thought SUV's were something and dropped the CHEV-BUICK-CADILLAC full size chassis... GM died in the full size upper class car world.

Sooooo long Cadillac ! We miss the days when your stood out and had class !

Your funeral has come... and like when Henry Ford died and they couldn't find a Ford funeral car to take him to his grave... Cadillac will be taken to its grave in a Lincoln or Chrysler because there are no more classy cars or anything that comes close to the former commercial chassis hearses !

RIP

Cadillac Fleetwood full size production figures were:
1993-31,773
1994-27,473
1995-16,180
1996-15, 101
They will only build what people will buy....

If this comes to fruition, I would support the gm crowd. I like a car that will hold 6 people and look dignified enough to have a style to its self. With all the cars being more air-dynamic, they have lost their individuality, I hope Lincoln would follow suit or beat them to the next auto show. A five passenger car just doesn't work for my family.

Darren a little cold in the arena watching all those competitors, did my share of that years ago when my sister skated, and after a while you got a brain-freeze.hope you had fun,and got rested up todays Ontario temp to be 15 degrees celcius.thats 62 for normal folks.

me I miss the full size car more then anything else. in the 2000 year GM had a fleet of full size cars that made over 30 MPG with out trying fords large cars with the small v8 would do low to mid 20s all day long. then along comes government standards and law suites. it's hard to put the shoulder harness in the center of the bench seat. the lap belt alone is a sure way to not walk the rest of your life. lets just make them 5 and avoid the possibility. in reality we did it to our selves by allowing vocal minority to dictate where and how we can spend our life. not controlling the frivolous law suits and letting poor quality, questionable standards to be imposed on us in the name of safety. we have killed the golden goose and are raising a new crop of monkeys in cages every year to carry on. oh by the way have you heard the new adds on lung cancer, it's still with us.

I think a lot of what the new Cadillac have is the problems that have faced them ever since BMW and Mercedes made what I call luxury sports cars. Even Bentley has the GT that does zero to 60 in a ridiculously low time. I don't see a lot of people going out and buying strictly luxury cars anymore.

I think gm did very well with the Cadillac CTSV. But they do need to get back to their luxury roots. They just can't go back to selling a pure luxury car and that's it, as no one I know of really buys that kind of car anymore.

They will kill off Buick long before Cadillac, you can't really kill your flagship luxury car.

they don't buy that kind of car any more because it's not offered. caddy priced them selves out of the market with 50,000 cars that were no better then the 25,000 sedans offered in GM other lines. lets face it 25,000 extra is a lot to pay for a name.

Cadillac (Escalade)..... STILL seems to be the king of cars in the Oakland/East Bay area.....at least with the gangbangers, pimps and drug dealers.....
I went to a recent police/sheriff aucton of siezed/impounded cars/items..and there were no less then 26 Caddies most equipt with "Boom" stereos and tv's with Playstations.....some even had police scanners and GPS.....a couple even had 24k emblems and wheels.....Mmmmmmm nice....
