Today was a special day for Paramedics in British Columbia with the dedication of the Fallen Paramedics Memorial at the BC Legislature. May 6th has also been proclaimed as Fallen Paramedics Memorial Day in BC.
I have been involved with this committee for the past few years and this was the culmination of our efforts. I was honored to be asked to bring my ambulance as the sole vintage ambulance on display.
A very well attended event that brought the families of the 10 paramedics who have died in the line of duty since the creation of the BC ambulance service. We have no record of any paramedics dying in the line of duty prior to that.
Also attended by our allied emergency services and the public...well over 500 present.
