Bought a new limo today!

Some of you may know that I sold my '67 Miller Meteor ambulance recently. So, I needed a new toy. It is a 1984 Chrysler Executive limousine, with partition, leather and the dreaded 2.6 Mitsu engine.I realize that these things are probably not on most people's wish list, but I have always liked them. Although this car has many needs, I decided to go for it anyway. Hopefully it will arrive in NJ within a couple of weeks, then the dream will probably be a nightmare. I hope I will be able to make it nice, but we will see.

Congratulations on the new car... So much for my putting a car in your garage for the winter...
Find one of those turbo engines that they offered in the last years of the K cars and put that in... If you can find 3 more Chrysler Executive Limo owners, you can start a chapter... Dan Herrick also has one that he loves.. I love to kid him about it being a dwarfed limo... :halo:

Congrats Bill!

Who ended up with the '67? Inquiring minds would like to know...:D

It's a beautiful car!

Rick

Bill, congratulations on the new car! So now there is another member of the PCS that can enjoy these outstanding Chryslers. :applause:
As Paul stated I love mine, and yes you will have to put up with the constant kidding of those that are jealous because they do not have one! :respect:
Not too many professional cars can park in a normal parking space, do not cost an arm an leg to drive and fit in a garage without being to long to be able to close the garage's door. The interior is as comfortable as any car on the road, as long as there are not more than two in the back!
Again congratulations on that fine new car purchase that you have made and may you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.:applause:

I thought those little Executive limos were nice when they were new. Not too practical, but nice. So I'm glad that both Dan and Bill are preserving a couple of them.

Lee Iacocca

Congratulations Bill! Lee Iacocca (spelling?) wasn't too proud not to ride in one.... and I thought they were good looking and kind of appropriate for the time. MM

Thanks guys!

I guess I like things that are unusual and impractical. Just look at some of the cars I have owned over the years. But, I have liked these Executive limos since the first time I saw one at The NY Int'l Auto Show back in the early Eighties. They have a certain elegance to them, don't they?

I also like the idea that this pro car will fit in a regular garage and it should be fun to ride in. I never much liked the Mitsu 2.6, but sometimes in order to get what you want, you must make concessions. I have only seen a few of these for sale and none had leather interiors.

To answer Rick's question, the '67 ambulance went to an ambulance service in Mobile Alabama. Their name is Newman's Medical Service and they also have a 1950 Pontiac ambulance. I sure hope they enjoy the '67 and that they are giving both ambulances a good home.

Limo

This is to big for my scanner, but I can chk with a copy place to see how much to make some nice reprints if any one wants some copys?

I just bought that brochure on ebay last night! They had a few of them and they all had different prices on them.

Since collecting these cars is an exercise in history, one might want to really remember what caused Chrysler to design and build all the K-cars. These came out just a few years after gas lines, price of gasoline increasing dramatically, etc. put the car in context and it makes perfect sense.

Don't get me started on energy policy since then.....

Well, now all I can do is wait for it's delivery. My brochure arrived today, very nice! I know the Chrysler will have needs, but to what extent remains to be seen. I am prepared for the worst, but anything better than that will make me very happy.
I must say that the husband and wife we bought the car from had owned it for twenty plus years. They were very pleasant to deal with. So far, so good! The funny thing too, is that the car is coming from Eugene, Oregon, no big deal, except that I was born in Eugene back in June of 1956. Although I have never been back there, I do feel a connection to it.

My Vote!

Bill: My vote for the best car you have owned is the Ingersol-Rand Plant Buick!.... probably even the best plant car I have seen owned by a PCS Member too! MM

It is on it's way!

I am happy to say that the limo has left Eugene and will be making it's way east. Although there is plenty of work to do and probably a few surprises too, I am anxious to see what I bought. I have always liked these little limos and I really think it will be a fun car to own.
If anyone should see it on a car carrier, please let me know.

I will keep my eyes open for it in case it passes through the Seattle area.

It finally arrived!

The limo arrived about 10:00PM last night. It is dirty from it's long ride on the car carrier. I will spend Friday, my day off, cleaning it up. Then I can get a real good look at it, but it looks pretty good, maybe better than I thought. There is lots to do, but hopefully it will all come together.
