Bleeding Brakes

Does anyone knows the proper sequence for bleeding the brakes on my 67 Pontiac Superior.

I just changed the master brake cylinder and one of the brake lines coming from the master to the equalizer and now need to bleed the system before I take it for a test drive.

I always like to start at the longest line first. but for what you have done. crack the line at the junction that you replaced it from first. then purge the master cylinder and the lines down to there will save you a lot of time

Bench bleed the master cylinder. You will never get all th eair out if you did not do this.

Then bleed rt rear, lt rear, rt front, lt front.

have your assistant pump the pedal till firm, then bleed the line. Repeat till no bubbles come out.

Bleed both rear brake without any problem, but when I got tot the front ones, I was unable to get the bleeder valves open. They were to big for a 1/4 and too small for a 9/32. I think that a long time ago thy were 9/32, but the rust has been chipping away at them for too long.

Another item for the shop's to do list.....

10 MM if they rusted go to metric. they will fit inbetween. next step is vicegrips and new bleeder screws. but if your in a binder loosen the brake line will let you bleed them.

Thanks John. Just to be on the safe side, I'll replace them. Went to NAPA today, and they can not find the part number on their system.

I was hoping to buy the new ones first and then take it apart, but as usual with the old girl, well yo kmow.....

I got a match pair of new slave cylenders for the 72 olds. they are cheap here. but one has a 5/16 bleeder the other a 10 MM one and no the oldones would not go in. think I stll have them if you want them. they should be bendix with a 3/8 head.
