Bill Leverett Pays a Visit

Bill was on his way to Ottawa on business so he came a couple of days early so he could see my Lifeliner and the museum. My son Kyle & I spent several hours Friday afternoon touring Bill around the County. Not only did we show him the Lifeliner (which is still in winter storage) and the EMS and the transportation museum, we took Bill to one of our local award winning wineries (we have approximately 20 in the county now) . Now Bill was claiming that BC produces the best wine in Canada, so as we went to the tasting area at the winery, I said to the server that Bill was from BC and that Bill claimed that BC had the best wines and we needed to prove him wrong. At that, another couple spoke up and said they were from BC and visited this winery annually while in Ontario and always shipped a couple of cases back to BC. Not so sure Bill was convinced even after the tasting. Always great to have a fellow PCS member visit. By coincidence, it looks like my youngest son will be attending the University of Victoria, BC, to do his PHd, so I will be visiting Bill later this year.

Thansk for the hospitality

Thanks again Dean to you and Kyle for so graciously touring me around the County. I was great seeing your Lifeliner and hearing the story of it's purchase. It'll look even better in the sunshine!

Foolowing lunch at the Museum diner, Dean and Kyle also took me on a private tour of the EMS Museum and the Transportation Museum. I was so excited seeing all the vehicles and equipment I forgot to take any pictures...d'oohh! As Dean casually mentioned to me, this would be a great place to host a PCS event. Being an EMS type, Dean also showed me some of the local EMS stations including some under contruction. He can be rightfully proud of their service.

As for the winery...The tastings were very nice and where the grapes are grown is unique (on an Island in Lake Eerie). I have to defend BC wines because there are so many around my home town. Here's a link to most of (but not all of) the wineries in the Okanagan Valley

In all a great afternoon. Thanks again...I look forward to seeing you when you get out West to Victoria.:thankyou2:
