Beating the bushes

[Well, as the old line i was beating the bushes around here to see what might fall out. I have been looking for another gurney for the 56, so i have been talking to people to see if they have anything laying around. The guy that i did the 72 olds wagon this winter for is a firefighter, so i asked him if anything was laying around there. In the basement of the old fire building, there was one that needed some love, so it has a new home. I think its probably a little newer then my coach. What era do you guys think its from?

Serial #

If you post the serial number we can most likely tell you the year. Off the top of my head I'd say 60's

that would be a old knee Breaker. if it were a washington it should be a #54 I'm guessing from my pictures. but I'll bet it's a Ferno and I would love to find out the number of it. either way if it's not a Washington/Ferno is pre 55. but Rocky what in the other box?

Well i checked the tag tonight no model just a seriel# 23117 and its a Ferno/washington brand. And the box by it they also gave to me its a hudson brand on the top if my memory is good. Nothing inside it has a lower board in it that has about a 4" hole it looks like a small cylinder would fit in it.

that is number they need to look it up. if it's a W-F then it's 55 or newer. you have the date of manufactures here in a bit.
don't let those belts go they are correct for your car and hard to find.

so just in the period correct range. one would figure on a car lasting 10 years. so the equipment just older buy a few years and up to 10 newer would be period correct for the car.

Period correct would, in my opinion, be what was used when the car was purchased new. If the same model without any physical changes was used for a few years before and after the model year of the vehicle, that would be acceptable. While the gray woven fabric straps would be correct for use in the mid 1960's, they are not correct for 1956. In 1956, I don't believe that they were using retaining straps, and definitely not with buckles that were stamped with the Ferno Washington logo on them. Even the car manufacturers didn't start putting logo's on seat belts until 1962, and even then, not all were using logo's....

I just removed one of those Hudson boxes from a rescue truck we retired. I have a Robertshaw Valves catalog with those listed as new stock, from May 1975. Some had a bracket for an aspirator bottle on the lid, and had a demand valve. Others were just inhalators. Box is junk, but the regulator, bottle and demand were good.

everyone has a different opinion of what is period correct. to me anything that could or would have been transferred to the new car from the old and anything that would have gotten placed in it when it was in service would be period correct. given the 10 life span the gurney and belts would be period correct to "ME". you rich squads in jersey that could start new every time did things different then us back woods boys.

A couple of years ago I saw a company come into the ER still using a kneebreaker can you imagine. Now they work for a cheapskate!

The mattress is older than the cot, and the '64 #54 looks just like a '56 #54...put it in your car and enjoy it!
