Basket Case- Superior Pontiac ambulance

This one has been for sale for some time now. Someone really needs to save this car! It really looks to be a very solid car.

To go slightly off subject here... this Poncho ambulance has Lincoln aluminum wheels on it. Were the Lincoln hubs 5 on 5" lug pattern, which IS the lug pattern on the ambulance? I've seen a few other GM procars over the years with FoMoCo wheels on them and was never aware Ford and GM shared a lug pattern.

Dwayne,

FoMoCo indeed used the 5x5 bolt pattern. Heres a list of the ones that did.

FORD FULL SIZE (CUSTOM, GALAXIE, T-BIRD) 73-78
FORD Custom 73-78 FORD Galaxie 73-78
FORD LTD 73-78 FORD Thunderbird 72-76

LINCOLN CONTINENTAL, MARK III 73-79
LINCOLN Versailles 73-77

MERCURY COUGAR 73-78
MERCURY Grand Marquis 73-78
MERCURY Marauder 73-78
MERCURY Meteor 73-78 MERCURY Montclair 73-78
MERCURY Park Lane 73-78

Found this out the hard way when i found a very highly sought after Lincoln Versailles rear, (9 inch disk brake same lenth as Fox chassis Mustang) and was very perplexed when my trusty 5x4.5 Mustang wheels wouldnt fit! It looked awful funny with Buick wheels on the back!!! Hope this helps!

It really bothers me to think of this rare beauty being crushed, bucket seats and all. I wish someone would save it, I wish I could save it. What a beauty this ambulance could be. If I were to win the lottery, I would save this one for sure!

the 73-79 Mark series would have been a Mark IV and a Mark V not a Mark III.The Mark III was 69-71 and the wheels from them do not fit the Mark IVs. The Versailles wasn't produced until 1977.

Looks like you are correct Rick. I pulled this from a wheel interchange site. I know the Versailles rear i had was a 78. I'm not all that hip to this era of autos. I am more familiar with pre-72 and post-79. Those in between years got kinda wacky. Just gives an idea of which full size Ford products use this bolt pattern.
