Awesome find today

Went to the Ohiio Fire Chief's Association show today at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky. They had, on display, the first Horton Ambulance ever made. Originally delivered to Prairie Twp. Fire Department, later traded in, and lovingly restored by Horton. This thing is beautiful

For some reason, the photos didn't post, just the "infamous" red X. Working on it.

Still going on, should still be open tomorrow. Good display of the usual "bread box" new stuff, and several old apparatus from all over. Good show, best of all the price is right....FREE. Fireworks tonight at 2200.

imagine

Steve,
Remember the 'good ol' days' when you had to use your imagination? I know you have seen fireworks. Now just sit back and close your eyes. Yes, just like that. Now see the fireworks?

This was at the PCS International Meet in 1995 in Fort Wayne, IN. Very nice indeed.

At the FD we have 2 Horton ambulances, 1 Ford, and 1 Full size GMC. They make a very nice product. When I worked as a paramedic in a nearby city we ran Horton Internationals. The Horton Ambulance was very reliable.

most definitely a fire dept designed rig. that front porch is big enough for racking chairs. one could sit there and rock and wittle while on standby duty.

Currently it's all lettered up for the Prairie Twp. Fire Dept. as per the way it was originally. I've got an interior shot, will work on getting them posted.

Maybe I have to become a site supporter so I can just post them up direct. That whole "postimage.com" thing doesn't work worth a damn anymore.

Hey, I'm a "Super Site Supporter" and I can't always get em to load. I just send them to Paul and he does it. :weneedpics_smi:

THAT was quick, I just joined as a Super Site Supporter and my status has already changed. When we get back from the grocery store, I'll try to get those photos to load. Shortly...

They also have the roof beacons swapped right for left, resulting in the Federal Signal labels facing rearward. As for the Unity lights being mounted on the rear vertical area, it might have been because they were concerned with water infiltration, or being the first one built, they just didn't know better.
