Attaching Cats-Eye trim

I have several of these Cats-Eye No. 753 bulb housings in my '75 along with the plastic chrome trim but I can't figure out how the trim attaches to the housing. I just have these two parts. Am I missing something?

Thanks

Jim

1/4" carriage bolts go in the square holes, and are nutted on the other side of the panel. It looks like the bulb holder part goes through the chrome trim first before bolting it on. Then you insert the lens. Hard to tell without having the parts in my hand along with the lens to know for certain. Never came across this model light before.

it would look to be a GM dome light trim ring. of course your not showing us all the light. you missing one key piece. I'm only guessing with out it in my hand also. but it would appear that the housing -base would set in a hole cut in a panel. then the lens would set in in the trim ring and three screws would go thew the lens threw the round holes in the housing in to the panel and tie everything together. I would be willing to bet that the original manufacture suggested the flat headed carriage bolts in the square holes but that would require the headliner to be out to put it in. so some industries engineer figure out that three screws would hold it just fine. eliminating that step if the the customer wanted extra lights or the plant wanted to put them on latter in the assembly line. I would further state that the three pieces were never meant to be put together in this light by any one of the three companies that made them. just one more example of gathering pieces and making them work buy the industry. find a housing find a trim ring that goes over it and find a lens that will go in the trim ring.
