Asking "ED" for advice

Ed, my angled foot mount for the "Q" does not allow me to bring it down low enough on the roof line for my liking. I see with Robert's CRITERION you used a piece of aluminum and Paul says John Dorgan has this available but would need to be shaved. Can you tell me just how hard it is to form this so it can be used as a mount and what about the bolts that holds it on. Did you use an angled washer knowing the angle of the bolts and holes would be different.

Let me know..... please!

Robert wanted to mount his real siren a B&M lower on the roof so that you could read the sign. we had the 30% slope mount from federal for the Q and the angle mount off the B&M. but to mount the siren level down low the angle was not correct. we could get the billet boys to make us one but there cost was a lot higher then mine. so found the spot he wanted it. marked that. then I could figure out how much we need to trim off the front to get our angle. the wedge base is really thin in the back so going the other way would not be a option. we then trimmed it down with the grinder just like we did the skirts. fit it a lot and went slow so we could correct any mistakes as we went. the mount goes on with two holes from the bottom up front and two from the top in the rear. by drilling the holes in the top we could hang it in place to play with it. then when we got it trimmed we made a template to drill the front holes. the siren then mounted to the wedge base and sits between the speaker cones. this picture show how much we trimmed off the base to get our angle right.
marked it just like doing skirts and then put it in the vice and ground it to shape. the grinder worked good as the roof is a compound curve. with it we could grind that into the mount.

the top bolts we just a short drop threw but he bottom we had to drill and tap. now if I remember right your Q has the flat mount. this would bolt to this mount and put the Q level on the high crown of the roof. you can't get the Q low enough to clear the sign, so moving if forward is not to your advantage. the brace under the roof was set to bolt the siren threw for the support needed for that heavy boat anchor. don't go lower then the support or you will tear out the roof. one layer will not support that much weight. with this mount on the B&M we are on the support in the rear and off in the front. but it is a much lighter siren to start with and it rides heavy to the rear. the q has all the weigh in the center. it also rides the weight up on a stick so that it puts a lot more stress on the roof. be sure and go thew the support to mount it. I'll not suggest to get a real one as I know your heart is set on this one.

Thanks. I was mocking it up while at home for lunch and if I mount the "Q", it will have to high like the "Q" on the Zelley Ambulance in my avatar. You're right Ed, either way, the sign will be covered.
