Any 61 flxible owners out there?

Hi, im new here and im looking for anyone who may have another 61 Buick Flxible I could talk with that may know something about the rear bumper on my car! My understanding of the 61 models was that they used the same front bumper on the rear? Not on my car and i believe that the one on it is original to the car as the bumper follows the contours of the rear quarters! I wish i could post pictures with this but if you take a moment there are pictures of the car posted! You dont have to own one to share any knowledge you may have about the car large or small im a sponge for your info! Thanks a million!!!!!!!!!

'61 limo style combination outside Austin, TX that I posted long before you joined the site. Note front bumper on back.

Typical TX sun burned paint, not rotted, needs a windshield, owner wants $800. Told others about until blue in face yet there it sits. Originally triple gold - must have been stunning when new.

Maybe a mod can combine this with your other thread.

Some '61 Flxettes

Here are some photos that I have of a couple of '61 Flxible Buick Flxettes. Unfortunately, I cannot give the proper photo credit for whoever took the shots of the all white ambulance, as I don't recall who sent it to me. But, it appears to have been taken at a PCS National meet, so it's probably fair game. The copper over white one I shot in Greencastle, FL many years ago, but I did not get a picture of the rear of it.

Still there as far as I know. Last visited in March. Call Henry directly - 512.272.4114. Don't expect him to come down on price. He won't.

Rust perforation on hood was about all I found on body. Sills had some minor peppering, not bad. Motor turns. Mirrored dash. Rest of glass is good. Attendant's seats still there, looks complete actually. There's enough stuff placed in the back that I didn't check the interior out closely though. Henry calls it an ambulance but we know better. ;) That's him opening hood.

At one point someone on a different forum wanted to buy the rear glass. I went and measured but nothing ever came of it.

Very interesting pictures of those beautiful Professional Cars! I recall viewing the one photo but the other is new too my eyes! But still on all pictures of the 61 models (hearse, ambulance, combo's and limo's) that I have seen used a front bumper as the rear. This is not the case on mine, it has a lesabre rear bumper (original to the car). Could someone explain this to me?

Could someone explain this to me?

Possibly. Someone who worked for Flxible in '61 might be able to - even that isn't definitive. Memories change as time passes.

You'll find many many differences in details between like hand made coach built models. If your VIN is a low number perhaps it was an earlier car before a change was made to the rest of the line, either for simplicity or cost cutting. Or a build sheet may show that a FD ordered it that way specifically. These were custom tailored after all.
