Another request for the ambulances....

We had a 38 yrd old female EVAC paramedic dies this week and will be displaying the ambulances at her visitation this evening. We may even be using the Lifeliner to transport her to the cemetery instead of the hearse.

Very sad!!!

in a lot of ways the newer style celebration of live will lived is a lot nice then the old somber wake we have had to attend. taking the body to the final resting in the old ambulance is only fitting and a vary good use of the car. you got it fitted with a rack?

I'm just saddened to hear of the passing of a fellow Paramedic, especially at the young age of 38 years.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family....and my gratitude for her service.

When AMR used their 68 Cadillac Ambulance for the funeral for Orbs Tiedemann, Columbia Funeral Home put their "skeleton" rack in the Ambulance and then after the service, the put it in their van to return it back to the FH. We used my coach for the flower car

There are no roller in the back so it is not going anywhere!!!

Famous Last Words

I would be worried that operation of vehicle laden with an unsecured load could shift in a collision putting the live passengers at risk or could at the minimum cause more unneeded property damage.
I have dealt with to many commercial motor vehicle accidents that unsecured or improperly secured loads have contributed or caused unneeded death and injury. Maybe I have been made paranoid over the years, but the problem is it does happen when you least expect it. That being said, if I were you I would figure some way to secure the casket in the ambulance so at least if it ever went to litigation, in a deposition you could say the load was secured.

We almost used the 78 Transport ambulance for a casket for a flight nurse years ago, the family decided against it at the last minute.
Due to the small area in the back of the ambulance, we placed a casket quilted cover in the floor, and pushed the casket up to a point that it rested over the stainless steel plate that would normally stop the wheels on a two man stretcher. The quilted cover kept the floor safe from scratching, the casket safe from scratching or damage... and held it in place fine when we practiced with it... It just didn't look good gathered up on the floor under the casket.
In the 78 transport, a normal size set of rollers would not fit...

Turns out we had a beautiful funeral with; 5 police motorcycles, 4 police cars, 4 fire trucks, two EVAC ambulance but no Lifeliner. In the end they choose to use the hearse.
