A couple of years ago, I posted (on the old website) about a '69 Superior Pontiac ambulance that was for sale here in Maryland. This was probably in 2007 by the dates on the photos.
It was a military ambulance, finished in Navy gray. It was quite rusty and had sat in a driveway off a main road for many years. Every time I would drive that road and pass the driveway, I'd look up and see it there. Eventually, the house was sold for land for a highway relocation, and a guy bought the ambulance. He eventually contacted me to see if I'd buy it, or could find someone to buy it. I listed it with our little group.
The other day, I met a friend of the seller, and found out some updated information. The seller had a stroke some time ago, and is permanently disabled. Having sat for at least 20 years in one driveway and then another, the car didn't sell and was too far gone to be of interest to anyone. His family gave up. It was scrapped.
On one hand, it would have taken a lot to get this one back up and running. On the other hand, there aren't but so many of these left. Now, there's one less. Of course, I had first shot at it, so I'm as guilty as anyone of letting this one get away.
Another one bites the dust...... :goodnight_smi:
