Ambulance exit - Shaw-Davis F.H.

I agree, it would be nice to have more pictures, however we have to keep in mind that photography back then was a difficult and expensive process. Only a few, well trained photographers were available to take picutres. The process involved creating a negative by putting chemicals on a large piece of plate glass (in total darkness), then sliding the plate glass into a camera and getting the settings on the camera correct. Then you had to develop the "negative in total darkness" then use the negative (on the rare chance it actually turned out) to create a positive and then develop the positive (under red light only). It was a long, long process. Not like today's shot and view on our computer.

Ken Elliott told me about this page. I wish there were more photos available of horse drawn ambulances that were operated by funeral homes:

When living in Grove City just outside Columbus, I worked for a removal service and several funeral homes on the side while managing the Sheraton. I remember using the Shaw-Davis Lincoln hearse for services several times.
