AHA limousine

I was entertaining at a street festival last week-end and there was a vintage car display. Cars ranged from 1948-1988.

The newest was a AHA Lincoln limousine in outstanding condition.

The guy bought it from the son of the original owner after he passed on.

The car was in quite amazing all original condition with 68,000 klms (or about 40,000 miles).

I took some photos to share with the PCS.

Enjoy,
Darren

Darren, I owned one of these AHA Lincoln conversions from 1987 to 1989 when I was still living in Winnipeg. Mine was an '86, and was originally owned by the owner of a large Ford dealership. The first time I saw that car I told myself I would own it some day. At that point, I didn't expect it to come available so quickly. I think I paid about 32K for it as a used car. When I moved to California at the end of '89, I couldn't take it with me since it didn't meet US requirements for export. I ended up getting only about 18K for it (ouch!), and it was in mint condition. Sure liked that car, but got tired of drug-sniffing dogs going through it more than once when I made my almsot weekly trips across the border.

These cars retained the original Lincoln body. The only modification was to the "C" pillar and rear window to give the illusion of a limo. I recall hearing somewhere that in '87 or '88, AHA offered a similar model with a 6" stretch to increase the legroom a little in the back, and built that extension into the rear side doors. Don't have any proof of that, though.

Here's a shot of the one I owned.

Thanks for that neat story.

I spoke with the owner for about 15 minutes.
He said he was in touch with the original owner of AHA and he was going to be visiting him in the next 10 days or so to get NOS AHA badges for the front quarter panels and the top logos too.

He told me he once owned a 1988 Lincoln he paid 40,000.00 for way back then.
WOW ! That was a lot of cash then !

Anyway, he said he just turned down 10,000.00 for the car.

He did tell me how much he paid for it from the original owners son...
get this... 1300.00 ! The son was asking 1500.00 and took the 1300.00 instantly he told me.

He said it needed nothing to transfer and safety the car.

I guess there are some good deals still out there eh !!!

This guy was thrilled anyway and recently went through a major cancer surgery were they removed a large part of his neck and shoulder.

I hope he enjoys the car for a long time. He is now retiring and going to play with his cars. He says he had a good job and they let him do what he could while he was there.

Take it easy,
Darren
