I'm pleased to announce that the Professional Car Society's exhibit at the 2013 Milwaukee Masterpiece Concours received two prominent mentions in John Gunnell's event report for OLD CARS WEEKLY, which appears on pages 24 and 25 of the October 31st issue. As he's the former editor, I've known John nearly two decades in my capacity as the paper's New York metro correspondent, and (during lunch with him on the show field) actually loaned him the camera card he used to take the photos that ran with his story.
Though I still wish the final layout had included images of a PCS vehicle or something from that similarly-unusual tow truck exhibit John Gunnell organized on the Concours' behalf, it's noteworthy the adjacent ad concerns that November 2nd auction in North Wales, Pennsylvania - already brought to our attention in Pete Grave's posting at http://www.professionalcarsociety.org/forums/showthread.php?t=13892 - that's featuring a 1919 Ford carved panel hearse; a 1930 Ford "first call" coach mis-identified as a hearse; a horse-drawn wooden wheel hearse; and various wicker and wooden coffins.
In addition to the Ralph D. Freed Auctioneers website at www.freedauctions.com, PCS people can keep tabs on these lots at www.auctionzip.com #3561 (where new photos will be added periodically). Though I'm not sure I have the time free to make the 250-mile round trip needed to attend Friday's preview or Saturday's sale, the auction venue at 544 Hancock Road in North Wales, PA is convenient to the US 202 corridor, putting Philadelphia, Doylestown and Lahaska (site to many PCS Northeast Chapter events at Peddler's Village) an EZ drive away. While there's no public parking at the auction site, a shuttle will be provided from a lot at the Sanctuary United Methodist Church located at 1346 East Prospect Avenue & Hancock Road. The absence of a buyer's premium may also prove an incentive to make the leap from spectator to bidder.
