A new hearse viewed

Last week, I observed a new Eagle coach in a parking lot. I don't normally see newer hearses or look since the old one's have more appeal! This one had the landau bars imbedded in the vinyl top. Is this something new or have this type been around for a while?
 
Not all Eagles have the landau bars that way, just the Eagle Cadillac Echelon (which have been like that since their introduction in 2008), and the Eagle Lincoln MKT chassis coaches since their introduction. All other Eagle models use the standard style bar that we are all used too.
