Today, in the Tacoma Washington area, we had a memorial service for 4 Lakewood Washington Police officers who were gunned down in a coffee shop 9 days ago. They estimate 20,000 people from law enforcement and EMS filled the Tacoma Dome. There were approximately 3000 emergency vehicles in the 10 mile procession from Mc Cord AFB to the Tacoma Dome; it took over 3 1/2 hours to drive. The staging area was on the runway to the airforce base and was 30 rows deep and a 1/4 of a mile long. Most impressive was the 1000 plus members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who were in attendance. Officers from Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis and even Newfoundland , Canada were present. Four white hearses carried the flag draped caskets. Many pictures and video can be found on the following news websites: www.KOMOTV.com , www.kirotv.com , or www.king5.com . Many many thanks to all of our emergency providers for the job they do and the risks they take!

It sounds like there was a great deal of support for the fallen officers, but there can never be enough support shown for all of our law enforcement officers in a time like this. These people put their lives on the line every day to keep you and I safe and to have officers die in a situation like this is absoloutely terrible.

All of my thoughts go out to these fallen officers and their families in these trying times.

I am so thankful for all of the public service members that put their lives on the line for the rest of us. I am also very sorry for the officers and families that have to go through a death like this.

I know too well what this is like. Here in Pittsburgh, we had 3 officers gunned down this past April and another officer just a couple of days ago.
