76 M-M at the mechanic getting ready for Ohio

Finally was able to get the 76 to the mechanic today to try and get the A/C fixed for the long trip to Ohio next week. On the way to the mechanic, it started losing breaks. By the time we got there, the breaks were just about gone. Checked the break fluid, and it was just about empty. So now along with trying to get the A/C fixed, he will be also checking the breaks to make sure nothing else is wrong. He is the only guy in town that is willing to even touch the A/C, the only other guy is out of town and won't be back until Monday, and this guy was backed up with work, and couldn't get to it until now. Hopefully he can get it fixed pretty quick, and I can finish getting it all cleaned up before the trip.

Good luck Josh, glad you found the brake problem now & not when in-route to Hudson! Hopefully it's just a rusty line or wheel cylinder leaking.

Its kind of funny, I've never had any problems with the breaks until I'm on the way to the mechanics. Boy, couldn't have ben any better timing.

Josh, now I know why you trying so hard to get that car off on me as you knew it was falling apart!:071:

I thought that everyone knew about it falling apart... :halo: Why do think that Ron "dumped" it???

Hey now boys, it is a great car. Well it will be soon as I get the knocking out of the motor, and get the trans to quit slipping, and figure out why all the lights flicker on and off sometimes, and oh yeah, and figure out why it keeps stalling out on the highway. But other than that, shes a good one.:17875::bonk:

Just talked to the mechanic, and he said the A/C is blowing cold. He said it didn't have a lick of freon in it, and had a blown fuse. As for the breaks, its a bad master cylinder. He is on his way to Napa now to try and track me one down. Sounds like shes just about ready for the road.

Josh

Suggest that you keep the old one and pay the core charge. That way, you can always have the old one rebuilt, and keep the car all original. Usually the core charge is under $5.00 USD.

Ok Josh, did he fill it with R-12 or 134-a? Glad it is working and the brakes will be too!

Thanks Richard. He put R134 back in it. Hope you get everything straightened out with the Lifeliner before your trip. Heard someone has a long awaited gift for you. See ya in Ohio.

core prices

Paul,
Don't know what kind of cores you have been pricing lately. I have actually had the core price be more than the part I wanted to buy. Just a battery is a $7 core here.
My 61 saga continues. Went to the welding shop to get my exhaust manifold. The guy saw me pull in the lot. He carried the manifold out and in the daylight found another crack. So the right 390 manifold is still there to be repaired.
I will be in Hudson but I doubt I will arrive in a procar.
No, it is not for sale just because it is broke.

Mike,

I'm sorry to hear you may not be able to bring the 61 to the meet. Maybe things will work out and you will get to bring it. See ya in less than a week buddy. Oh and by the way, I'm sure that last comment was directed at me.:D But if you change your mind, just let me know.:hide:

Saint Terri will light a candle in your honor.

I heard an oldie on the radio today that was about your car..."At The Shop," I think it was, by Danny & The Juniors.

Well shes back home. A/C is blowing cold, breaks are working great, and even got a fresh oil change. Now a little clean up, and shes ready to go.
