This car gives me deja vu...not only is it in Stillwater, Oklahoma, but it looks very similar to a 72 I tried to buy about 10 or 11 years ago in I believe Catoosa, Oklahoma.
I was younger and dumber at that time and found a 72 Cadillac Hearse combo on ebay for $900. The listing had 1 picture that looked a little old and it said its never been wrecked and it ran great last time they started it.
I excitedly bought it (was still living with my dad at the time) and we met the seller at a storage facility where he kept it, gave him the money and he pretty much bolted, which was the first cause for alarm. Well the first cause for alarm should have been the ebay listing that said "ran fine LAST TIME it was started", as last time could have been 10 years ago.
Anyways we tried to start it immediately and couldn't get it going. We had to spray a ton of starter spray into the carburetor to even get it going. We did get it started for about 10 seconds but we quickly realized a few things:
* It was bone dry on gas
* motor was about to throw a rod
* transmission was dead
There was also bondo falling off the body...
I was determined to work on it, being a young kid, so the next day I brought a can of gas to the storage facility only to see that I was locked out of the storage. Talked to the front desk and the owner had left us with 2 months past due storage.
The seller was a total jerk when we talked to him about it, he threw around many choice words and basically told us we just bought ourselves a hearse. After 2 paypal disputes we did finally get our money back.
And to this day I still have the key to that hearse! I keep that key on my keychain as a reminder not to get screwed again, and also as a way to remind myself that one of these days I WILL get a hearse.
