I attended a local Historical Society benefit car show today....
there were 160+ vehicles including several vintage tractors,3 vintage firetrucks, and of course the usual high dollar hot rods......but sadly there were no Pro Cars.....:( other the my 72.....:smiley3:

I was very happy and surprised to recieve the "Peoples Choice" award and a write up next week in the local paper,( now if I just had some history on her)...
I was thanked profusely for bringing her out and the kids loved the "collector cards" my wife handed out,I think the adults were wanting the cards more then the kids.....we handed out over 100 cards......:weneedpics_smi:

here are a few pictures.....

Red trim looks great!

I love how the red trim accents the moldings.........usually the moldings are used to separate paint colors. What a great color scheme!!!!!!!!!:agree:

Being the huge Rush Limbaugh fan that I am, the Rio Linda trucks are funnier than hell!!!! Thanks James.

BTW, thanks for the other photos too, your 72 totally rocks!!!

Russell,

That is too funny,,,,people around Rio Linda really think a lot of Rush...they even have a small statue of him in "downtown".....

The local hamburger joint has a "Rush burger" its a hugh bun with a VERY small meat patty and TONS of cheese...last time I saw it sells for 99 cents...
There used to be so many people who wanted to see Rio Linda that Rush made famous......a guy opened a "sightseeing tour"....all it was was a old taxi cab..and he took you past several houses with trash in the front yard and dogs tied to trees....and of course 5-6 cars on blocks and sofas on the front porch....then he took the cab thru the car wash at the gas station (thats what folks do in Rio Linda for fun) and ran out and got them a free cup of coffee and small bag of popcorn at the hardware store !!
That cost $5.00 per person...and he had LOTS of people wanting to do it !!

But now he says he is retired thanks to Rush...lol....they are tring to get him to be guest of honor for their 150th aniversary celebration......but no word yet from the Rush camp......:badbad:

Well done James!

In a field of vehicles like that winning the People's Choice Award really speaks to how well you presented your ambulance. Well deserved...but then I'm biased.

What type of collector cards were you handing out?
