On the Superior serial plate there will be a model number. Check that number and you will be able to tell if your car is a Rescuer (51") or a Super Rescuer (54") model. The Rescuer was a model S616 while the Super Rescuer was a model S626. The standard 42" headroom ambulance was classified as a model S606. I am assuming that the vehicle in question is a Cadillac. Superior's Pontiac ambulance model designations were 206 (40" headroom ambulance) and 207 (48" headroom ambulance). Hope this helps.

51" Rescuer

Your car is a Rescuer (51") the roof sign is the give a way. On the 51's the sign is higher than the roof, the 54" models the roofs go straight back from the top of the sign.
I will check later on the flasher on my 70 Rescuer (51')

Our 1970 Superior Cadillac had a flasher made by J.A. McDermott Corp. of Long Island City, N.Y. They were a round aluminum canister with terminals mounted on the top of it. It was a thermal operated flasher. It was quite loud, and made a click clack sound. This flasher was mounted on the left inner fender.
Dan Herrick sent me a picture of the flasher that is mounted on the firewall of his 1970 Superior Ambulance, and it looks like a large relay. I will post a picture of it when I get on my other computer.

Hi Dennis, The way also to measure your car is the amount of inches from the the floor not stepwell to the roof. On the 71-76s surperiors you could tell by the way the pod lights were placed. Lets talk-Kenny and I will be going down w/ his 64 M+M Highboy. Peace and respect.

Hey Denny. I replaced my flashers on the Lifeliner with this flasher. Works great and an easy install.
