I am doing the body work and prepping for paint on my 64 Cadillac superior . I want to completely remove the chrome trim on the rear fins . Some of it is already removed from clips . How do I completely remove the trim ? And once painted how does the trim clip back on to these clips / fasteners ?
Those a pop over clips. You put the molding on by holding it tight agents one side of the clips an taping it with a rubber hammer to pop it over the other side. Remove itby sliping a flat blade under the trim and twisting the closer to the clip the more successful you are. When you paint remove them. Clean them off before putting them back on. Dont forget a drop of seam sealer on each hole when you put them back in. Be sure and re-caulk that seam under the trim. Its a major source of leaks into the body. The one behind it is T bolted the the body. You will need to remove the interior panels to get it off.
