63 Pinner Hightop

I would appear to be a engine fire, it was sitting in the front row in a junk yard in Rapid. we got a few things on today. the weather was nice enough to buff outside on the long pieces. I could not think of a way to get them with the car inside. as long as the bid door was open, we could put the lock and handle on the rear door. had to go next door to find help putting the drip rail on. defiantly a two person Job and the cat would not help. hope to get the shiny stuff on the back door tomorrow.

I have all the big stiff hiding in this 74 Miller. we'll did out a few things and see what we can get on. decided to repaint the front of the radiator support. it's ugly. found the door sills and the front door cards we can get them together. then finished the rear glass surround. there is 12 pieces to this simple trim. then I trying to decide we don't have enough #4 screw for the drip rail. I put on in every other hold yesterday. went looking for more today all I could find in town are Phillip's head. so,IMG_2605.JPGIMG_2607.JPGIMG_2608.JPGIMG_2609.JPGIMG_2610.JPGIMG_2611.JPG do we put in every other one with a different head or trade then all?

The Chrysler PentaStar is only on one side, and it is supposed to be gold-plated, not silver.

This one is gold. It did final float up in my old files that it only had the one on this set of cars. I didn't start working at the Chy dealer till 65. Them all i was doing was yard boy stuff.

today was not a fun day but we did get some things done. figured out where I hid the head lights so we can finish the front end tomorrow. getting the grill in wasn't bad but getting that lower trim piece on took a couple hr. those nuts are something to get on when you can only reach the stud with two fingers. but Paul you would be glad to know I put the L on just like you did. got the front end together. now if we can get the rocker molding in place we can get it off the jack stands. don't ask me how I got the front bumper in place by myself. dumb luck is all I will say. we did get the corner peace's in place for rocker but couldn't find any clips for the straight run. I'll check the town tomorrow. found enough for the doors, they had spring clips in them Ill trade them out for t bolts as you can get in the shell and put nuts on. I hoping we don't need any touch up I knocked the jar off the bench trying to get the molding in one trip. lost most of the last of the paint. another day another molding or two. buff it out, put it on. such is life. got the rockers together. then a good start on the belt line. hard to believe they under coated the bottom of the rocker moldings. getting that front nut on the post in the center door is not fun either. but where there is a will there is a way. besude U needed to do all those toe touches pecking up that nut half a dozen times. SSDD: did scrounge enough of the plastic push in clips to put the quarter moldings on and the upper fenders that way we can plug the holes to stop water from getting inside the panels. Little weather change again. beats the high wind but not by much hope this kills off a lot of the bugs that hatched during the 60 deg stuff. did find a fine example of under masking on the right quarter molding.IMG_2633.JPGIMG_2634.JPGIMG_2635.JPGIMG_2636.JPGIMG_2637.JPG

got the body molding I have here on. my son has a par of them to test out the clips he was making. he has the pattern now, just not a hard enough plastic to make them work. standard good news bad news. but if he can find the nylon material, we might be able to print out the elusive MM clips. it the door get away from you guess how hard it goes up on the fender.
we have a spot on the fire wall Nick asked me if I could do something with. rolled under the car and I can't get to it going up. when we get the noise down, we can see about getting some paint in it. that pile left to go is all the windshield trim. we got some thaw today. the spot on the sidewalk. if your think about leaf guards and you live in snow country don't. snow piles up on top of them when it melts it drips off over the gutter freezes on the walk under them. something I did not think about when I put them on.View attachment 53296View attachment 53297View attachment 53298View attachment 53299View attachment 53300View attachment 53301.

see if we can do better tonight now, I'm not saying this is the proper paint. but it is the correct color. if askes I will never admit to using it on this car. but as long as I have the dipstick out let's paint the handle. got started on the windshield surround. we were having a fight and getting frustrated so let's stop here and get back to it. no since it is damaging anything.IMG_2644.JPGIMG_2645.JPGIMG_2646.JPGIMG_2647.JPG

A couple of things that I noticed. The rubber hose connecting to the breather on the valve cover is bent over, so the engine can't breathe properly. If you post a picture of the clips that you need, I might have some. Do you have the rubber that goes into the roof molding? I had some that I got from the late Tom Caserta. I don't remember where he got it, but I never got around to installing it on the roof when I owned the car. When the weather gets warmer, I will see if I can find it in the garage. There was another item, however, I can't remember what it was, but with any luck, I will remember tomorrow.

I remembered. I was wondering how you painted the door jams?

more excitement today got the last two moldings on then cleaned up the lovers. most of the onetime fasters are missing. of then didn't come out when you pulled the studs you ground the lip off striping the car. they had used a set of 1/4 inch square screw holders on the right side to grip the stud. the problem is the holes are 11/32 and plastic things that large have a bigger hole in the center. funding barrel nuts today is not easy. and big ones with a like 9/16 gripe are just not around. pulling the fender is not a good opting either. we'll check the other parts house tomorrow. that first picture is the ones my some printed out. the second is me marking the position of the holes in the door so we could get the t bolts in place. a dot on the molding is all it takes. I got to stop doing this late at night I forgot to hit post my note last night. but be that as it may we did stuff any way worked at the script and louvers replaces the gas cap it sure looks better with the glass cleaned. stepped out on the porch and found this big roll. the much-awaited flooring has arrived. we can get the car on it wheels and move it forward enough to open the back door and get it in place. soon. someone had used a set of the square screw plastic screw holders to attach the lovers before so that all we could come up with to do it now. took a while to find the ones that work but fined them, we did. they grep the post as good as the barrel nuts do. found one with the post broke off and lost another in storage so we had to make a post for them. got the hole drilled found a screw that would fit in and added a drop of super glue in the hole before we put it in. then cut the head off and formed the post. you can do that easy enough on the thickView attachment 53321View attachment 53322View attachment 53323View attachment 53324View attachment 53325View attachment 53326View attachment 53327View attachment 53328View attachment 53329View attachment 53331 ones
