I would find it very hard to believe that this car spent its life in NM.

not all of New Mexico is dry desert. and most of it is not paved roads. one of the worse snow storms I drove thru was in the north part of that state. that was back in the late 70s, way before climate change was a catastrophe. those superiors were known for rust in everyone of those places.a car not taken care of left outside is going to show the standard spots. they fill full of dirt and when it gets wet it stays that way a long time. then teh extended stay in old Mexico could not have been good for it. but luckily for yor 59 people there is a man in Canada that has all the panels made for these repairs.

looks like the interior survived better than the car. it's a combo also.
