From the Copart website...

Est. Retail Value: $87,000 USD
Primary Damage: MECHANICAL
Secondary Damage: MINOR DENT/SCRATCHES

On a good day, this car fully restored isn't worth $87K!!!! .... just my opinion

That estimated retail price doesn't mean anything with Copart. It's an auction. A lot of, if not most auctions(cars and otherwise) post an estimated value in their cataloging anymore. It has nothing to do with what it will actually sell for.

Copart

Has anyone ever bought anything from them? I tried once , seemed like the rates , dates and just about everything changed daily. I gave up trying.

Starting-Asking Price

I think he's been watching too many "GAS MONKEY-DALLAS" TV Shows to dream of that kind of money..... regardless of a beginning auction amount or not. MM

Again, that "Estimated Retail Price" means nothing. It probably was not even put there buy the seller. Copart, and most other on-line auctions, list a random amount that someone pulls out of their @$$. With most vehicles, they can base it on past auction results. Not the case with a '58 Superior combo.

I buy from Copart regularly 5 so far this year. I also sell with them and have done well selling. Just sold an 08 Charger and got more than I was offered here on the lot best part the sale is as is so NO comebacks.Sellers fees are very reasonable the buyers fees are in my opinion high. They get bidders from all over the world. An auction looks like a UN Meeting.

Like most auctions these days...……… they will sell anything! The insurance salvage business is what they started out in.

Rebuildables, Vintage antiques,RVs,trucks, whole vehicles you name it if it rolls or rolled they sell it. Fees are hefty and bidder registration is difficult. go there and look Copart.com. As a dealer I pay a yearly fee to bid without it being a hassle. To sell anyone can.

Our dealership actually buys several a week. We don't buy wrecked stuff usually unless it is something special but several charities sell through copart which is stupid being stuff don't bring as much as it should being folks think copart is only a salvage auction. True their fees are a little high. Heard this week that Manheim auctions will soon be going to online only auctions. No more going to the sale with them. Getting to be thing of the past. Someones comment about value of item listed means nothing. Seller is allowed to put what ever they want on there or put nothing.:applause:
