'54 Ford Panel

it would be interesting, short wheel base says homemade. but without looking it over will inside and out who can say.
 
it would appear to be a standard ford panel truck the glass cut in and the position of it would be right were the seated attendant could look out. that style of grommet was for sale by the foot. used by a lot of shops to add glass in the blank panel. but it was not the style used by most of the ambulance builders. now it could have been added for the drivers continence in backing out into traffic also. but these type of trucks were a easy re do for body shops and serviced in need of a truck. a lot more room then a sedan delivery or station wagon and a fairly cheep buy. that's way a look inside would tell. also you do not see a aftermarket builders name on it. the fate of most of these was to finish out there life as service trucks. as the name auto parts hints.

In these year panel trucks Ford never made a long wheelbase panel. A few companies stretched these into long vehicles for a lot of uses . Up to a F-900 you could get a chassis and cowl. Panels where only in the F-100 series.

Armbruster had a stretch on the panel. my point was you can't till the reason for the added window by looking at the outside.
if it was for an ambulance it was most likely a hometown build. we could change the short to standard if that helps
 
I do like how they followed the body/roof line with the slanted windows! At least they put some thought into it!
 
now that I'm on the one that has all the pictures I show you the Armbruster ambulance on this chassis. one stretch one stranded

but your right the glass was put in wit some since of style one more reason to suspect body shop.
