'49 S&S End Loader in NY

One has to wonder why seller could not even give it a bath. Looks like very little needs to be spent on body work. The guy is over hyper on title New york is a Bill Of Sale state on old vehicles. Most states a notarized Bill of Sale from New York works with DMV

No paperwork and the data plate being removed would be a red flag for me. Its had at least one color change, it was blue at one time.
Rims also appear to be not the correct ones, they look like 15 inch rims, but hard to tell for sure.
It would be a good project for someone at the right price.
Im curious to see how high this one goes. It does have the near impossible to find rear quarter trim I need for mine though.

If my memory serves me correctly these Cadillacs had the VIN number stamped on the top of the frame right front. If anyone is concerned I have old manuals I can consult to make sure.

I know its the same as the engine number too.
Its just sad people remove the coachbuilder data tag, that has the model (even though we know what this one is), and original funeral home that ordered it.
I do hope it goes to a good home, that will restore it back to the way it should be, these do not show up no where as near as other coachbuilders this year.

When I first saw this, I was very excited to see another surface. Some of you may know Im trying to keep a record of every 49 S&S I come across, either new, or old photos/ads, along with the data tag info.
Anyways, getting ready to add these pix to my files, after a closer look, I already have this one listed, previously for sale in 2007 and sitting outside.
Well, so much for a "new" find.
I still hope someone here gets it and gives it the restoration it deserves.

Glad to see I am not the only one doing this I have been doing the record keeping on 55 and 56 Packard Caribbeans since 1958 amazing how many still exist. Due to the cost these (the Cadillacs) were low production its a shame the info is not available as to how many were made.

I will make you a deal. I will send you pix and data info your way anytime I see a 55 & 56 Caribbean, if you send the same for the 49 S&S line my way if you ever come across one.
