38 Buick on Craigslist

Anyone interested in a 1938 Buick hearse? I found this on Craigslist. It is about a 30 minute drive for me if you want better pictures or eyes on it. The price is the big turn off. $15,000. The guy seems to think rarity means the same as worth a lot of $$$$$$. This might be a nice car finished but it will take a lot of $$$$$$ to get it there. The link to this item is:

Take a look and see what is here.
The pictures are from the listing.

Wow! A surviving 1938 Superior-Buick Fairhaven or Crownhill funeral coach. If it's a series 40 it would be a Fairhaven. If it is a series 60 it would be a Crownhill. Either way, these were not all that common when new. The extra long rear side door is the trademark of the early Superiors.

WOW! Price is steep. Remember John Ehmer had his 38 Superior Buick listed at $4,000 and it was complete, rust and dent free!

it has what?

I just took another look at the pictures of the Craigslist 38 Buick hearse. My computer will blow up just a portion of a picture. Too much and it becomes a blur. The right front fender on the listed 38 is a sidemount fender. Could this possibly have dual sidemounts. Still high priced...for me.
My offer to go look at it for you is still open.

Wow.....the odds of finding another `38 Superior-bodied Buick are incredibly slim -- just four months after John brought his to Hudson. Can't help wonder ghow many of these were made in Superior's first 100% post-Studebaker and all GM model year. - Walt McCall
