2011 Mercedes Crestline ICON Ambulance

Not a pro car but thought this would be of interest. This is the first production model (after the proto-type)of Crestlines new Mercedes ICON Ambulance. The patient compartment is much narrower than most modular ambulances but has 72 inches of headroom. The interior is very much in the European style and the unit is set up to carry only one stretcher and one ambulatory patient. I will post more pictures once the truck is delivered here in about 10 days.

I like the push bar and the siren speakers, better than my current AEV set up. The seat on the right side of the patient needs to be further back. When the stretcher is full Fowler's the attendant won't be next to the patient.

Good looking rig. Let us know how you guys like it after a few months working in it.

It is time that we start to think outside of the box and build ambulances that are designed around the Paramedics in order to increase safety and efficiency.

From experiance with our winters here in NB, we would most likely have issues with the siren speakers being that low.

we have that problem with most sirens in Ontario, during the winter they pack up with snow and slush, management suggested we stop and unplug it,ha ha I suggested he come along for a Highway 401 call in a blizzard, and show me exactly how they propose we do that,no reply to that one, nice looking truck though, but wouldn't you rather have a cadillac ambulance.

Take a knee high stocking and put it over the speaker(s) and you should be fine.

the stocking idea works, if you have enough speaker to put it around. Height has nothing to do with snow. It falls from the sky! I drove a Ford that had the speakers cut into the hood, still packed up with snow.

Scott that is why You get a bigger size for bigger speakers LOL
or use tie wraps on the rear of the speaker

We had a Cadillac ambulance that had roof mounted speakers that used to fill up with snow, your correct the height has nothing to do with it. We solved the problem with a fine meshed screen that was attached to the front of the speakers.

I know this posting is a little old but we are looking into these Mercedes Crestline Icons. Most of my fleet is McCoy Millers with a couple Road Rescues and 1 Osage. I was hoping to get some feedback on how these trucks are working out for those of you who are using these smaller Type III's. thanks for any responses.
