2,500 feet to 1,000 feet..

Just wanted to remind any of those that might still be undecided about purchasing the M and M style repro door weather seal, this is the latest. We are down to the last 1000 feet out of the 2500 and three members are getting shipped next few days. Josh Gentry, we got the USPS M.O. this afternoon and the airport post office is open today, so I am shipping your 100 feet out in about an hour. Bill Leverett your 50 feet is packed. Jeremy Ledford, I promise to call this evening, so hopefully you will have gotten a measurement of the quantity yiou need to do your back door. No more of the door rubber will be made out of my pocket so if it ever needs to be made, it needs to be done with a member cooperation to fund the entire amount if ever again. Just wanted to make a point. I am most proud of the vehicles that the product will be used on, WOW! Some of the cream of the crop in the PCS array of coach's. It also gives me great pride to have sucessfully teamed up with a legend like John Ed Renstrom in creating the product, how cool is that? About as cool as it gets. Bravo, to John for mentoring in his time off from the garage to teach the many who visit here because of the technical discussion that we all share. Okay now, I have to punch out from behind the time vampire for awhile before it steals the last light of the day here in MPLS.

Daniel, we are selling door seal rubber for $2.50 per foot. Handling is $5.00 for any quantity. Product ships in large priority mail cartons for $14.95 per sections of 50 foot. Smaller quantity's will ship in smaller priority cartons. Medium is $10.95 per carton and that would be for a order of 30 feet or less. Shipping to Canada, I could not send a priority carton to Bill Leverett it was cost prohibitive, so best price was first class $17.00 to BC Canada 7-10 days. Josh Gentry, I shipped your 100 feet today and three day to Kentucky, so Monday if I did not miss the cut off today for the priority pickup at the postal substation. Refer to the M & M repro door weather seal thread if you have any other questions, call me direct, PM me or write me in response in this thread. My home phone is in the PCS roster also.

My best advice is to measure for yourself like I did our Superior. I was curious after Ed Renstrom recommended 100 feet, which was his advice. I was at about 80 feet to do our Superior after I measured. I however, have to date, not installed any weather strip personally yet, so I do not understand the intricacies that are involved and Ed does. To the best of my abilities what I did was to unfurl 25 feet from a surveyors tape reel and trace right over the existing gasket in our coach, however there are areas that I could not get my hand into, plus those compound curves and corners, 45 degree cuts, and so on. Refer to Ed's drop shots for the most briliant demonstation of installing the gasket on the rear door of his 1968 M&M rear load door. He executed the corners by not cutting totally through the rubber, and used the last portion of the profile as a hinge to glue / bond back to itself to form an unbroken corner. He never totally cut through the entire 16 feet when he installed around the square door. The corners look better than factory if you notice how they mortise(?) in the corners. Ed did the back door in March around the 10th if my recollection is good on Dropshots. If it were me I would spend the money get 100 feet, somethings come around one time, and I would buy a set of hood bumpers as well. We have five hood bumpers under the hood of our 1969 and when I took the first one off to see how good it was, it crumbled in my hands.

100 feet will let you mess up a door. at 2.50 a ft it's not really worth cutting your self short. you will end up with about enough to do one more door maybe or all most. as this stuff is all that is on the market right now. to get more, one will need to order 2500 ft. haveing a little extra might make for good swapping later in life. I paied $4.00 a ft for the same stuff from the last vender that had any. he quit stocking it as the demand was to low. mike made this run as a experament. he is still looking at half of it at this price. you can see why the other man wanted double.

Got mine in the mail today, and let me tell you guys, it is some good stuff. Michael has really out done hisself on this stuff. It is a dead on match to my 71 Superior. Don't quote me on this, but I would say that it is also good for 71-76 Superior's, as well as the M-M's that it was made for. Thank you to Ed for taking a look at my sample I sent him, and a great big thank you to Michael for taking the time and effort to have this weather stripping made. This will play a big part in compleating my restoration. I will be very proud to be putting this rubber on my coach.

Josh

Josh, sorry for the full PM mailbox. First time it has happened that it was filled up. Cleared up the old mail today. What incredibly kind words, and what a wonderful suprise to find out that the product can be used on your Superior. Third prototype and I was satisfied with the sample then to Ed for his opinion. We knew we were at the thresh hold of a acceptable product at that point. Rest is history 25 coach's or better will have the product installed and that will be my legacy contribution to the fine group of members that are genuinely perveyors of coach preservationists. I never knew the caliber of the coach's that existed out in the world beyond Minnesota, it is frankly unbelievable. The member coach's are some of the most beautiful in the world that have been rescued and restored. To bad for the people that get the creeps from them. If only you could get our coach's into the Gugenheim museum in NYC how cool would that be? They already did a Vintage motorcycle exibit, why not our coach's? For Now, Thank You, Josh!

There has been a lot of talk over the years about group buys for various items for our cars, but this is the first one that I know of. We owe Michael and Ed a lot of thanks for "walking the talk" on this project! I'm happy to know this material will fit Superiors, too, as at least both front doors on my '72 need it. I'm glad I bought 100ft. Thanks Michael and Ed!

Sold out!

So we are at that point finally. As of yesterday, Paul Steinberg secured for purchase my last 200 feet for Daniel Scully. As soon as I get confirmation on the sale, thats who gets my last quantity. If not, I will post any available quantity that may not have sold. I hope those that needed the product were able to get their portions. I appreciate the support for this effort, it was a learning experience. Thank You! Michael

Door seal rubber

There has been a few inquiries after the rubber was sold out for more. I did save some for myself. I will be willing to make some type of trade for 100 foot of rubber towards a 1969 Superior gas tank along with straps, frame cross members, filler pipe, gas cap. I will be happy to put cash towards the deal as well in the event. I have another offer if anyone wants to use their cash towards a second extrusion I would be happy to provide the product at a small commision and you can sell the 2500 feet of rubber. Pooling money, towards an extrusion of 2500 feet which is a minimum is also a method. Should not be any problem between the Miller Meteor club and the balance of the people coming in late to help out. Some people bought more than 100 feet and it is possible to find out and do some trading amoung those folks.

,500 feet to 1,000 feet..

You know what I am talking about, it's to bad that the NAPA parts store can't find them. Closest they come, is telling me that Stant, I think that is the name, offers one of that style for old Chevy pick up trucks. I ran around from store to store one afternoon for 3 hours. They directed me to a NAPA that had pictures in the catalog to help find one, then they were still not sure. Thank You Danny! I will be happy to buy that one if it is for sale.
