Does anyone have access to a shop manual that would cover a 1989 Front Wheel Drive Fleetwood Sixty Special? I am looking for any info or help to replace the Body Control Module (BCM). Any help would be appreciated!

Bcm

What kind of info do you need? I have access to Mitchell on Demand which is not as good as a shop manual but it works most of the time.

I suspect that it is somewhere behind the glove box because I can hear it clicking back there. Need to know where it is and whats involved to replace it

Gigantic Thank You to Dan Scully

Many many thanks to you Dan for the 20 or so pages you faxed me today!. Now all I have to do is understand what it all means! I can get the part from my local GM dealer for $125 and I think I may have a mechanic friend do the labor on the side so I don't fry the new body computer, but I will end up saving about $350 . People helping people...thats what the PCS is all about!

Next Time I'll follow Pauls advice

As Paul always says, buy a shop manual! I figured by talking to the Cadillac Tech that does the electrical work was just as good, so I tore the underside of the dashboard apart, only to find out that thats how you access the ENGINE control module, not the BODY control module. To access the BCM, you remove the glove box liner (6 screws) and the darn thing is right in front of you! Long story short, its fixed, the car operates as its supposed to and is now for sale so I can buy my next car!

but look now you have all the experience in taking apart and putting back to gather the dash of a 89 caddy. I mean you all ready knew how to read so if you had looked it up you would have missed all that fun. just get to remove 6 screws and two that hold the unit would not have let you appreciate how the engineers could cram all that stuff in a place were no man could or should get to. Studebaker has all that in the engine room and you could get to it by removing a cardboard cover. simple to work on. no wonder they went out of business.
