1985 Ford Country Sedan Hearse

That's a nice-looking little Crown Victoria, even if the 14-inch tires used by many full-sized Fords from 1979 until the mid-80s are overwhelmed by the wheel openings. This coach reminds me of another, even-sharper example I spotted at Carl Woerner's dealership when an early Miller-Meteor Reunion stopped in Cincinnati.

It looks like a Thacker conversion. Mainly these were used for first calls, or to transport chairs, grave lowering devices, flowers, etc. but there may be enough room to hold a casket if necessary. As long as the floor has a length of 86 inches from door to seat and somewhere between 30-35 inches in height one would fit.
This is one of the nicer ones Ive seen in along time, if it was closer I would grab it.

Is this a coach built conversion or just a homemade hearse?

Coachbuilt in Los Angeles. And about 4-5 have shown up in N. California and Washington state over the past few years. Now up for sale on eBay:

And thanks to the larger images, I can tell you it's an Abbott & Hast conversion. While it doesn't have the cycus leaves pattern etched on the rear window like mine, and it's missing the rear side window cloth shades with rosettes, the landau bars are unique to A&H conversions.
