1984 Olds hearse

It's hard to tell with these pictures, but I was of the understanding that most 80's Olds hearses were built either with station wagons or at least Olds 88 front ends. This one looks like it may have been built from a 98, which would make it more uncommon. Any ideas?

It is a Eureka. You would have to check with Tom McPherson for sure on the model he used as a base, but a 98 sounds right. Most likely a 2 door, like the Pontiacs he used.

That's a 1984 Eureka-Oldsmobile Carlton Landau. It was based on an Olds 88 two door. There were also models based on the 98 but, this one is an 88-based vehicle.

I've never had an encounter with an 80's Olds coach in person, but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen a 98 based car for sale. I see now that this one hasn't got chrome between the grill halves, and therefore seems to be an 88, but I'd be interested to find out more about the 98-based models. I assumed (without basis but because there was still a wagon produced,) that most 1980s Olds/Pontiac Buick models were based on wagons, especially the tail-stretch models, as the interiors were often without options. I had a 1981 Buick 6-door based on a LeSabre, which was the cheapest big RWD car that year.
