1976 American scraped

Its Official...The 1976 Superior Cadillac American Ambulance has gone to the scrap yard. On behalf of Evan Butchers who owned it, I looked after the removal of the ex American Ambulance today. She was parted out as best we could and the front door skins with the American name on it was saved for a private collector.

For the record books at least we know what happened to her.

May she rest in peace !

The First picture was taken a few years ago and the rest are from today being loaded up for her final run.

RIP old gal. that center door glass would not come out? you get all those pars setting around might as will kept the car as a storage shed.

I'm Sorry guys, but I stripped this thing the best I could. It was on another guys land. I know there were a few more things that could have been saved but. The stuff that was taken off was already spoken for.
besides The Ambulance wasn't mine......I was just helping a friend out

When Evan purchased this car from American, he did so with the best of intentions to try to preserve it. Unfortunately (if I recall my prior conversations with him correctly) the car turned out to have major issues that were more advanced and problematic than he could have anticipated.

Again, IIRC, some of these problems turned out to be beyond repair. So rest assured this was not a case of neglect, like we often run across. Mike and Evan have been working with me to preserve some of the local Detroit elements from the car. Other parts will live on in other projects. The fate of the rest of the rig, unfortunately, was inevitable.

Would have loved to have gotten the front and rear tunnel lights, commercial chassis rims, etc.

PCS member Dave Stein has been to the junk yard since these last photos were taken and has pretty much stripped all of the last remaining parts of value off of the carcass. If you are in need of anything, give Dave a call. He is in the directory. He does not have e-mail. Thanks Dave!!!
