1974 Superior B4 & After

http://www.professionalcarsociety.org/forums/showthread.php?t=11384&highlight=1974

Well sad to say this car is truly being scrapped:(. The owner is taking the body off the chassis and placing his 1953 Superior Combo onto it and making a limo out of it. The 53 is currently sitting on a Firebird subframe. Fortunately my brother Tim and I were able to get parts from this car. I took before and after photos and thought I would share them for those that don't know what is "behind the scenes" of a pro car.

Always SAD to see a "vintage/classic/historical" item meet its demise..whether a car,ProCar or even a building..........
But,
Thank you for the pictures Rich !

Very true Jay, it was hiding quite a bit of rust. I still believe it was salvageable though. :( It had been bondoed up and repainted at some point so there was rust issues, but it was a complete car. Far from it now. From what I could tell after taking parts off, this car was originally all black and was painted silver later on in it's life. With all of the rust showing on this car I was quite suprised at how solid the metal parts of the rear floor were.

Electrical tape

Keeping in mind that electrical tape was probably the only way to connect wires back in the day, I just get surprised to see factory produced vehicles with electrical tape.

Rust

I am afraid to look under the back of mine as I know there is rust. Way too many water leaks over the years (beacon, fan, antenna, siren mounts), and I can see some rust coming through the vinyl.

That will have to be next years project. This was a great "Superior anatomy" lesson!

Going by those pics one would think you guys attended a class of "Ledford's how to strip a junk pro-car of usable parts!!!" If its bolted, screwed down or glued down take it off and keep it!!!

Pretty much if it wasn't bolted, screwed, or glued we got it. About the only interior parts left were the front seat which was torn and the dash that was cracked. I will be listing parts for sale shortly. Headlights/bezels are already sold to a fellow PCS member.
