Since they think you're rich, why not pull a shoe & sock off and prove them wrong?
I am blessed by a neighbor who retired from DSS. She tells me the system is designed to make just about every problem caused by unusual circumstances another worker's problem and since there is no reward for solving a problem the normal course of action is to kick it to the next lucky worker. She also tells me the only fear workers have is being recorded (NY is single party consent) and blown into the Inspector General's office. I tend to think she's right given I've seen government employees wilt after they learn their presentation was recorded. Record is a word that tends to bring out the best work by government employees.
