Rick, Thank you very much for posting this!
I can not find the car listed on the site. Am I right in thinking that only certain people can buy from this auction?? (such as registered dealer/registered repair shop) is it possible to "follow" the auctions like we do on E-bay??. I do hope that as many of johns cars will get into the hands of people like us as possible. People who will either repair them or actually have a need for parts for another hearse/ambulance!!
PLEASE keep us also informed about the '76 Buick Hearse!! I have 2 of them and would LOVE to be able to have (and desperately want!!) the '76 Buick Hearse that will be going to auction soon!! but as I have said before I very unfortunately can not at this time due to having lost my job last year. I think that cars fate may not end well!! (derbied or stripped of drivetrain and crushed, 36 built)

Not sure about COPART

Dana,

I do not know how Copart auctions the cars it receives.

I only know what Frank Marasco (Tri-State Chapter President) has told me that John's cars that have been subrogated through his insuance carrier will be sent to Copart, Pittsburgh. It is my understanding that the cars are auctioned each Tuesday, depending upon when the car is received and payment is cleared.

Apparently, the auctions are open for everyone, regardless of status or dealer, although I am not 100% sure.

I had heard that Carl at CW Coach may have been lucky enough to get John's '68 Flower Car at the Copart Auction.

I will do my best to keep you/ everyone informed about the rest of the cars, as I find out about them.

If you want specifics, call Frank and let him know what you need.

See you in Albany!

Thanks Nick!

I'm glad that someone has an understanding of COPART... and I'm impressed that there are two Pittsburgh locations.

PS. I've asked Rev. Schimmelhorne to post some pictures that Frank sent me last night!

See you in Albany!

Rick

Co-Part

As a follow-up to the Co Part question:

Yes anybody can buy from CoPart and you can even do it without leaving your friendly 'Puter at any location in the country.

We have a local location here in Phoenix where a couple friends routinely buy, fix up and resale purchases. As always it's buyer beware but as instance a friend bought a '99 GMC pickup for $2700.00 that only needed a replacement Bed, Bumper and paint...He figures he saved at least $5000.00 off retail.:specool:

you have to understand the way the insurance co works or has to work. this car is a easy fix. even the bow can be repaired. the quote to repair one to me from our Erie platter was 40 for the one brake. little top damage and it needed painting anyway. glass is all good. be a real sharp car with on 27000 on it.

Speaking from being the son of an Insurance Adjuster as far back as the 50's when I developed my car fetish it's all a numbers game has been forever and continues today. Adjusters are monitored, graded by their "Clearance ratio"...Number of cases per month assigned vs number cleared/closed.

I have a very close friend who is the regional claims vice prez in St Louis for a major. They use Copart exclusively. Once the Insured signs the settlement "most" vehicles are picked up,processed and sold within 2-3 weeks barring any title release problems.

does anyone know what the end result was for this coach??
It no longer comes up on the copart website, it was there the other day at $700.00.
