Not Steinberg's Week

First he finds out he does not have the only Pinner Coach and now this! That is the same body design and coach builder as his new Chevrolet. If you look at that roofline it is identical.:1:

Very handsome car. I wonder how many Pontiacs C/B made. Looks as tho it is well-cared-for, so not to worry too much about the mower in the back. My '92 Eagle Cad frequently sports a mower back there, too. With care, you can haul most anything and still not hurt the vehicle.

62 Pontiac

That car was listed on ebay last year or earlier this year. I want to say it is a combination, but my old memory aint what it used to be. Either way, that's one sweet little car!

62 C/B and more.

I sure have been enjoying these photos!

The Lake-Thornburg FH in Prairie du Chien ordered a 1962 Oldsmobile C/B Seville Limousine style combination is Sahara Mist with a Lt. colored interior and drapes. Duane Thornburg and his wife flew down to Ark. and drove the new coach back to Wisconsin. It was a very sharp looking coach and was used till 1975. No photos of the coach exist. I sure wish I had that coach now!

Duane Thornburg started in Funeral Service in McGregor Iowa with a used late Blk '30's Henney Packard coach which was sent up to him from a neighboring FD. Do you think something like that would happen in today's world? He was to pay so much from every funeral until that coach was paid for! Duane then purchased the Lake Bros. Funeral Service in Prairie du Chien Wi. A '48- or'49 Blk Henney Packard ( which they ordered new) was at that Funeral Home so Duane sold the older coach. He used that coach till he traded for the '62 C/B. This was Duanes 1st new coach and he used it till 1975 when it was traded for a new Pontiac Blk/Silver Sovereign Landau end load with Lt. Gray interior. The Superior Pontiac was traded for a new early 80's S&S Blk/Silver Victoria end load, his last new funeral coach. The FH's were sold and the new owner traded it for a used Drk. Blue 88 Collins end load which was traded for a used 1999 not sure what color you would call it Eureka end load, which is in use today. I'm hoping this coach will soon be going down the road to be replaced by a 2005 Black Eagle Elite w Electric Table to see service at the 3 Thornburg-DeVries FH's.

The other FH in Prairie du Chien started out with an early 30's Buick funeral coach. It was used untill after WWll and they bought their one and only NEW funeral coach, a 47 Eureka Limousine Style 3-way. Then came the start of buying used funeral coachs, mostly 3-ways and usually Black! 53,62,64,68,72 3-ways, 75 end load, 80 3-way, 91 FWD end load and a 96 Blk/Gray Eagle with Crown and manual table. Eurekas, Superiors and M/M's were the brands purchased. Currently a 200? Federal end load is their coach. No photos of those coachs were taken.

If your look closely at the photos, I think that's a stretcher in the back. I seem to recall from the ad on Ebay that it is a combination

If you'll look a little closer, you'll see that the second seat is in the "up" position!

All C/B short-wheelbase cars through 1962 (that I've seen) used station wagons as a base*, retaining the original seating and floor**. As you can see in the line sheet, an optional split second seat was ordered for use as an attendant seat.

*I've also seen a 1963 C/B-Pontiac SWB (sometimes called "OWB" for original wheelbase) that had it's original station wagon interior.

*I'm sure that a full floor was available as an option, as well as a C/B attendant seat, relocated spare tire, and rear floor compartment.

Thanks for the correction Steve. I should have enlarged the photo before posting. I do have the original photo from the Ebay listing. The rear seat is down and there is what appears to be a stretcher/casket in the rear compartment. I guess that clouded my judgement somewhat.

I'm betting she's a combination...nice car!

This car was for sale at spring Jefferson. The car was priced at 10,000. The car is in very nice condition and yes it is a combination.

I do believe that there is a family relationship with my 1962 Chevrolet...:wowguy:

Paul, noticed your car has two lights on it the pontiac has one zipper in the center of the front headliner. I took a picture of it and took noticed to it since i will need to do something like that on my olds.

Does it have an OEM station wagon interior, or a full or partial conversion? Please post some photos when you get time.
It has the stock Chevy wagon interior but with a split back seat. Sorry, I spent too much time taking photos of cars to take photos of the interiors, so I don't have a pic of it...
