Runs, drives, and(I assume) stops! There's a lot to be said for that!

Still seems to be pricey at $9500.
 
Seems that everyone starts high, and it is difficult to start low, and then raise the price. The only time that I saw that happen, was a Craigslist ad, where people contacted the seller to tell him that it was a rare car, and that the price was too low. He went from $5000 to $7000, and when the car sold, he felt that he sold it too cheaply.
 
Easy to get swayed into thinking that rare means it's worth big bucks. Now 9 would not be bad for someone that wanted to get the car and drive it as is.keep it.mechanacly sound and let the rest age. But to bring it back to glory you spent a 1/3 of the price of restoration on buying the car. If it was a 2 door hardtop in the same condition it would be worth putting the money into.
But you would really have to want one bad to do it to a hearse. From the pictures it is a worthy canadate to restore. All the trim is there grass still in the car. Sites straight and is drive able now. I wish the man luck. If I wanted. One I would not hesitate to call and inquire.

As for the one Paul is talking about people had almost talked the man into keeping the car. As the buyer had reached his limits even on that car. How many times has one seen this happen. Were people not interest in buying drive the price over the top of the market so the car is a no sale. Then gets sold a year or two later for half the money. Then trashed.

Between the 51 Buick and this 55 Poncho, the Pontiac seems like a much better deal to me. It is 2/3 the price of the Buick, arguably better condition, and appears to be mobile and drivable right now, whereas the Buick hasn't been started in 30 years. Unless the Buick is super rare and more desirable, or somehow more complete, I'd be laying down a deposit on the Poncho. Sand off some of the more severe rust and drive as-is.
