1948 Buick Flxible # info.

Hi,I drive a 48 buick hearse. I've owned it about 20 years,on the road since '06.It has been in the Yukon since the late 60's,and i've been told that it's been here forever. I saw a posting with reference to Tom McPherson having production and sales records. I have his book about Flxible, but it doesn't havethe individual sales info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Her name is Arlene, model B27-748M,a premier with a manual 3-way. Serial#15935 Motor#51034527 (replaced with 5 ltr. vortec v-8).

Kevin...I sent the data from your post to Tom McPherson he replied with the following information: " The vehicle bearing Flxible body number 15935 was a 1948 Premier three-way with a manual casket table (a model B27-748M) which was sold to Mr. J.E. Chaplin of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and delivered on August 8, 1948. This vehicle had a Buick frame with the number 14912344 and the motor number 51034527. Of the 253 Flxible-Buick funeral cars built in 1948, only 29 were equipped as three-ways. That would make this a fairly rare survivor. This model had a factory drive-away price of $5,575.25 and was one of the most costly Flxible offerings of the 1948 model year." I hope that this is the information you were seeking. Seems as if you have a real keeper there. Perhaps you could post some pictures of this so we could all enjoy seeing it.

Keith, Thanks for the info. I didn't know the original owner's name,or the production numbers. The body is still very solid and original (I repainted it in 05 ) The door panels and headliner are still pretty nice (burgundy mohair and velvet) and still has the original glass. I replaced all the running gear frame and all with that of a 97 chev . I've kept all the original gear, with the hope of restoring it as a display piece. I'll post some pics in a while.thanks again,Kevin

Keith,
I don't know how to send photos on this site. I have tons of photos, and I could send you some if I have your email address. You could perhaps post them on the site for me.
Kevin
